Positive Psychology for Law Enforcement
David believes that the science, theory, and application of the principals of positive psychology is the tip-of-the-spear for increasing the well-being of police officers (and other first responders) as well as addressing the overall mental health crisis in emergency services. Much time and effort has gone into the awareness of suicide and suicidal ideation of our Nation’s protectors, and now it is time to take action towards prevention and elevating the baseline of the individuals so that they can not only present their families and the communities they serve with the best version of themselves, but they can also better respond to their own adversities when inevitably confronted with them. Positive psychology provides us with a toolbox filled with positive interventions that can serve the individual, community, and organization at the prevention and postvention stages, that takes us beyond just surviving and allows us to start thriving.
David’s story of resilience is born from challenges and adversities that he has experienced that include transgenerational trauma, adverse childhood experiences, his career in public safety, and other personal hills he was forced to climb. His success today is built on grit, love of learning, and his desire to continue to serve others so that they can present the world with the best version of themselves. |
